Fireworks, food trucks and family, oh my!
/I hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend! I posted "live" this weekend on Facebook from Baltimore so if you caught this on my page already, thanks for following :) If you haven't liked me on Facebook, well, get on it so you can follow me on the go! I just got back from spending the holiday weekend with my cousins in the greater Baltimore area and couldn't wait to share these finds with you! On Friday we went to Oregon Ridge Park, which used to be an old ski trail (yes, singular, it's Maryland after all) and now hosts a large Fourth of July event with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. It was my first time attending and the first time local food trucks participated; they must have known I was coming. Sadly, more well known trucks like Gypsy Queen and the Jolly Pig did not attend (too bad for them-there were about 5,000 people there, #BANK) but the ones that were there served up some great dishes.
I didn't eat at Sexy Vegie or Cruisin' Cafe but I wanted to share as much as possible with you all. Vegans, definitely seek this truck out next time you're in Baltimore, everything I saw leaving the window looked delicious!
According to my cousins, Cruisin' Cafe is one of the local favorites. Their menu changes frequently except for their signature Crabby Fries. Because, Maryland.
My cousin got an Italian sausage and pulled pork sandwich from The Smoking Swine, which served up the perfect all-American eats. Everything on this menu had me drooling but I held off. Barbecue was on the menu the following night and I did NOT feel like repeating the meat sweats of Missouri. I'll be back for you!
Instead I opted for a side order of Asiago truffle fries from Wolo (We Only Live Once). The food here definitely lives up to their namesake; the flavors were bold yet balanced and the portion was more than sufficient. I've had my fair share of truffle fries, all of which have been from restaurants and they all come in second to these,
Thanks food trucks of Baltimore, I can't wait to come back! Until the next dish, ciao!
