The views were unbelievable and the company was absolutely perfect. To stay fueled between our kayak tour and hike on Sunday we stopped in Beacon, NY for lunch at The Hop.

Good Things Come On Really Small Plates

Good Things Come On Really Small Plates

Good morning everyone! To my friends that are celebrating, Happy New Year! So, guys, last night I finally went to Bobby Flay's Gato. I didn't have a reservation but that's what the bar is for, right? Even if I tried, all of the ideal times between now and Columbus Day weekend are booked. I popped in around 6 on a Wednesday and it was already bustling. Dark wood, exposed pipes and brilliant light fixtures give off an industrial chic (read: East Village) vibe. Aesthetically it's a bit different from Flay's other establishments that I've been to but that's a good thing.

Birthday Fun the NYC Way

Birthday Fun the NYC Way

Hi friends! I don’t know about you but I recently had one of the best weekends in a long time. It was the birthday weekend of a good college friend so a gaggle of New Englanders descended on my apartment and the city. This birthday happened to be a thirtieth birthday so naturally there was only one course of action: dinner at The Plaza and brunch at The Smith.

Ain't No Benny Like the One I've Got

Welcome back and thanks for following my tasty travels! Today’s post is the last part of my 3 day vacation in Westerly, Rhode Island and the focus is on my favorite meal: breakfast! Now, those of you that have been reading know that I love a good egg at, well, anytime really. Leave it to me to find the best eggs in town at, the aptly named, The Cooked Goose.

Something Old, Something New: Rhode Island Part Two

Something Old, Something New: Rhode Island Part Two

I hope you’re ready for more of my adventures in Rhode Island! This is part two of three and don't think you'll be disappointed, I certainly wasn't. Most of my memories of Rhode Island reside between sand and sunshine but my favorite ones are in Watch Hill. Watch Hill is a rocky enclave of some of the most gorgeous homes in Westerly.  Memories there center mostly on the century old carousel, desperately reaching for that brass ring, and ice cream at St. Clair’s. Now that I’ve put a few more years between myself and 1991, I wanted to make new memories by visiting some local venues.

Cross this Bridge when you get to Westerly, Rhode Island

Cross this Bridge when you get to Westerly, Rhode Island

The journey continues from Nashua, New Hampshire to Westerly, Rhode Island. The Westerly area has long been a favorite vacation spot for New Yorkers and my family is no exception. We've been going since I was months old (for some perspective, I’m approaching my third decade). For me it’s a very special place; memories of tuna fish sandwiches on the beach and boogie boarding until my lips turned purple so I’m happy to share it with you. But not the tuna sandwich. For the first time in eight years my parents, sister and I reunited on the New England shore. After twenty years of visits our stomachs and palates are beyond familiar with the Westerly dining scene. Then again, a lot changes in twenty years.

Breakfast City, USA aka Nashua, NH

Breakfast City, USA aka Nashua, NH

Hi everyone and welcome back! My vacation was actually cut short because I got a new job (wahoo!) and had to get myself organized. I may have only been away for a few days but I definitely ate more than a few days’ worth of food, starting with my quick trip to New Hampshire. A long time ago, in a sort of far-away state, this New York girl went to college and met some incredible New Englanders that are now some of her closest friends. Many of them have since relocated to the greater Boston area and I visit them as often as I can. When I stay in Nashua with one of my best friends one of my favorite things to do is breakfast.

Holy lunch menu, Batman!

Holy lunch menu, Batman!

Happy July! Today's post will focus on some delicious delights from my own backyard... Upon returning from my Mid-West jaunt I went on a self-imposed BluePrint beverage cleanse for a few days-

OK, a day.

I had been eager to check out the Gotham West Market since reading about it in Bon Appetit a few months back so I grabbed my first partner in culinary crime and oldest best friend, Stephanie, for some day drinking and global eats
